Lightweight and Portable Stairlift Chairs
At Mobile Stairlift, we manufacture stairlifts that enable people to move up and down stairs. Unlike traditional stairlifts, our stairlift chairs are lightweight, portable, and do not require additional tools, assembly or installation to use. We offer multiple stairlift chairs and accessories — all of which have been rigorously tested according to the highest safety standards.
With so many different solutions on offer, we’re often asked “which Mobile Stairlift is right for me?” The answer depends on your individual needs. Weight, portability, and staircase and house design are some of the most important considerations when choosing a solution.
We unpack the benefits, use cases, and specifications of our mobility stairlifts below. Our goal is to help you find the best model for you. While we also sell emergency stairlifts for EMS and home evacuations, this guide will focus on our chairs intended for everyday use.
How Mobile Stairlift Chairs Work
All of the mobility stair chairs discussed here work straight out of the box and can be safely operated both indoors and outdoors with the assistance of a caregiver. Importantly, the design is so simple and intuitive that anyone can use them. So, how do our chairs work? Mobile Stairlift's everyday chairs feature robust motorized treads that are used to ‘climb’ stairs. These treads also feature an anti-slip design that locks the chair in place on the stairs for safety when the controls are not being used.
Our customers love our chairs because they are:
Easy to store and transport
Durable and lightweight frames make it easy to take our chairs wherever you need to go.
Safe and secure
We understand the need for safety, which is why so many of our products are used in emergencies. High-strength aluminum alloy materials and safety belts guarantee safe and secure transport at all times.
Simple to use
With no installation or assembly required, our battery-powered stairlift chairs are easy to use. All you need is someone to help transport you.
Genesis Mobile Stairlift
A versatile stairlift for everyday use
One of our most versatile chairs, the Genesis is our best-selling unit and is ideal for navigating multiple types of areas ranging from the home and workplace to public spaces. The Genesis can travel 120 flights of stairs before needing a recharge and it climbs stairs at a speed of 0.4 meters (1.3 feet) per second. That means it’ll take less than 20 seconds to travel up or down the average staircase. This chair comfortably seats people of varying body types, and can lift up to 400 pounds of weight.
The chair itself weighs 62 pounds and is narrower than most wheelchairs, is easily folded for storage, and fits in the trunk of most cars. While the Genesis can navigate most straight staircases with ease, staircases that have 90-degree turns require landings to be at least 44" x 44" for safe maneuverability.

LITE Mobile Stairlift
For added portability
Another popular model, The LITE is made with high-grade aluminum, features a smaller frame compared to the Genesis, and can lift up to 250 pounds. Fitting its namesake, this model weighs 44 lbs pounds. That’s 30% lighter than the Genesis, making the model easier to store and transport.
While the LITE is every bit as versatile as the Genesis, its smaller battery size means that it can only climb 60 staircases before recharging. But it makes up for this with a compact frame, easier maneuverability, and quicker 0.8 meters (2.6 feet) per second climbing speed. At that speed, it’ll take less than 10 seconds to travel up or down the average staircase. These factors make the LITE a favored choice for situations requiring added mobility, like traveling on vacation, or even in emergencies.
The LITE easily handles most straight staircases, but staircases that have 90-degree turns require landings to be at least 38" x 38" for safe maneuverability.

Helix Mobile Stairlift
For curved or rounded stairs
The Helix comes with all of the great qualities of the Genesis, with the added benefit of working on curved and circular staircases. Like the Genesis, the Helix can lift up to 400 pounds, has a long battery life, can comfortably seat users of varying body types, and can reach a climbing speed of 0.4 meters (1.3 feet) per second. At that speed, it’ll take less than 20 seconds to travel up or down the average staircase.
At 66 pounds, the Helix is only slightly heavier than the Genesis. But it is as easy to fold up and store in the corner of your home, office, or the trunk of a car. Unlike the Genesis, the Helix enables mobility on circular and spiral stairs. This added capability may make the Helix a better option for navigating certain homes or public spaces.

Atlas Portable Wheelchair Stairlift
Portable stair climber for wheelchairs
The Atlas is specially designed to lift wheelchairs or transport chairs, and their passengers, up and down hundreds of flights of stairs. This enables users to remain seated, reducing the need to transfer in and out of your wheelchair and into a stair climbing chair lift.
The Atlas can lift up to 440 pounds and is ideal for navigating any space that lacks wheelchair ramps or elevators. Like the Genesis and Helix models, the Atlas can securely lift users of varying body types.
The Atlas is built to accommodate a standard wheelchair or transport chair with seat sizes of 16" 18" or 20" widths. However, due to the wheel clamps, the model will not work with most electric wheelchairs.
The model weighs 53 pounds, is easily stored in the trunk of most cars, and features powerful treads that ensure a fast climbing speed of 0.7 meters (2.3 feet) per second. At that speed, the Atlas takes about 10 seconds to traverse the average staircase. For safe transportation up staircases with 90-degree turns, staircase landings must be at least 44" x 44".
